| The Sport Accord stablished the first ever international combat games in Beijing. 12 martial art competitions took place, as well as a showcase for non-competitive aikido demonstrations, of which there were representatives from around the world. Justin Horn, one of the four chosen South Africanrepresentatives and one of the instructors at Port Elizabeth Aikido Club returned from the combat games feeling "inspired after wintessing many different styles of Aikido and also experienced the level of Aikido that is been done internationally." One of the highlights were the combat games opening ceremony which boasted a performance by Jackie Chan.
